Gill’s latest commission is this unique house sign.
Our customer wanted a large rustic style sign for her ancient front door.
She literally does live in a hidden house and loves the idea of having it presented as a hobbit-hole and her self-sufficient, off grid lifestyle showcased; so this was a great opportunity for an imaginative interpretation of the brief.
Specifications were for a Tolkeinesque/ Arts and Crafts vibe and so Gill simplified elements from a Tolkein water colour
Then, our customer had to shrink in height, whilst her features acquired a weathered, rosy cheeked outdoor look.
We now have a little hobbit lady and her “Gingerbread Ranger “hen!
The lovely old dark oak panel came from a piece of furniture in Gill’s stash and the wood grain itself has been left apparent to underline the rustic style.
